PAMELA BLOOM empowers businesses, brands and individuals with the language to define their mission and drive connection.
Arts & Entertainment//Travel /Lifestyle
Pamela Bloom’s career has been all about the convergence of story, music and language.
Trained as an opera singer, Pamela began her writing career in New York as a magazine columnist and music critic, interviewing celebrities and reviewing rock and pop for top publications such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, New York Post, and High Fidelity, Musician, Downbeat and Connoisseur magazines. The music of Brazil soon called her, and she was sent on assignment to dance in Rio’s Carnaval. Thus began an obsession with all things Brazilian, eventually leading to the writing of two award-winning guidebooks on Brazil and the Amazon. In the course of her adventure-packed career as a travel writer, she biked through China, scaled mountains in Italy and danced with Hopi Indians at a reggae festival.
Award-Winning Marketing
In 2001 Pamela moved into marketing & communications at Family Circle magazine, where she helped rebrand its revolutionary redesign and created a multimedia sales tool that won Best in Show and Best in Class in the Business Marketing Association’s Pro Comm Awards.
Content Strategy & Development
In 2002, R/GA, one of the world’s leading digital agencies, hired her to create the content for SC Johnson’s first magazine-style website, initially called CleanHomeJournal.com. For five years she led strategy and produced consumer-targeted copy that integrated 200 products and 12 brands into rich advertorial format.
Post R/GA, Pamela continued as a consultant for digital companies including Profero, Seiden, Fitango, McCann Erickson, Unified Field, and others; among her projects have included three design & decorating websites for Benjamin Moore, an interactive exhibit on the “Smart Grid” for General Electric, a leisure site for Hilton Hotels, and a in-situ blog at the Tour de France for Subaru. Most recently, she held the position of Director of Marketing Communications at American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
Award-Winning Author
Pamela is the author of five books, two of which - Amazon Up Close and Brazil Up Close - both won Guidebook of the Year from the Society of American Travel Writers. Her latest book, The Power of Compassion: Stories that Open the Heart, Heal the Soul and Change the World, inspired the international edition of the New York Times to commission an op ed about how to overcome rage in intolerable circumstances.
Presently, Pamela has conceived and written the libretto for “A Taste of Blood in the Wine,” a flamenco-driven opera. She is also turning her award-winning story, “The Little Guitarra Who Played Herself,” into an animated feature.
Book Development
For more than 20 years, Pamela has also provided editorial services to various New York publishers, including Simon & Schuster, Avon Books, Holmes & Meier, and Arbor House. She has also been an editor at Guideposts, the inspirational publisher, and senior editor of two magazines. Presently, she coaches professionals from concept to publication.
Public Speaking
